What is ABS plastic?
ABS plastic is a construction material that combines good impact resistance with stable mechanical properties. At MK Plastteknik, we use ABS plastic in the manufacture of technical components where strength, precision and processability are required. The material is well suited for injection molding, vacuum forming and CNC machining and is common in the series production of plastic parts in industry.
We process ABS plastic with a focus on reproducibility and precision. Our own tool manufacturing and control at all production stages ensures reliable components with consistent quality. Material waste is reused where technically possible to reduce resource consumption.
Features and technical advantages
ABS plastic consists of three polymers that together provide a balance between stiffness, toughness and surface quality. Acrylonitrile provides resistance to chemicals, butadiene contributes to impact resistance and styrene creates a smooth surface that can be surface-treated. The material has a low weight in relation to strength, is dimensionally stable and retains its properties at temperatures up to approximately 80°C.

The material can be glued, welded and assembled with standardized fasteners, making it practical in production.
Limitations and material choices
Standard quality ABS plastic is sensitive to UV light and should not be exposed to prolonged outdoor use without additives or surface treatment. If higher heat resistance or UV resistance is required, modified variants or material combinations are used. We help you choose the right quality based on environmental, temperature and mechanical load requirements.
